This course continues the time-honored tradition of learning from the Old Masters by copying their great works. Student will bring in a high quality reproduction of a work of art they would like to copy. The instructor will help them formulate with a strategy to do so in a working method consistent with the Old Master being copied.

Students may also copy drawings.

Good quality reproductions are essential to for this exercise. Many can be downloaded from www.artrenewal.org.

Materials:

Drawing materials:

Any brand tablet of acid-free paper, 60- 90 pounds in weight.
Drawing board with clips
H pencils
HB pencils
Razor blades (for sharpening)
Kneaded erasers

Canvas size will depend on original image, and on the practical limitations of space and time.
