Press Release: High School Art Competition Winners

THE LONG ISLAND ACADEMY OF FINE ART IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE WINNERS OF OUR FIRST ANNUAL HIGH-SCHOOL ART COMPETITION.

This competition was open to all Long Island high- school students. Over 26 high schools participated, the most active being MacArthur High School, from which 12 students sent work and three won prizes.

The GRAND PRIZE WINNER, who receives $1000.00 in cash, $600.00 worth of College Portfolio Counseling sessions, and an eight-week class, Foundations of Classical Drawing, at LIAFA is MATTHEW MOORE, from Longwood High
School.

The SECOND PRIZE WINNER, who receives $500.00 in cash, $400.00 worth of College Portfolio Counseling sessions, and an eight-week class, Foundations of Classical Drawing, at LIAFA is TANYA LONG, from Locust Valley High School.

The THIRD PRIZE WINNER, who receives $250.00 in cash, $200.00 worth of College Portfolio Counseling sessions, and an eight-week class, Foundations of Classical Drawing, at LIAFA is KIRA BUCKEL, from Mattituck High School.

In an effort to help other deserving students create art portfolios for college applications, LIAFA has also awarded 33 scholarships to attend an eight-week class, Foundations of Classical Drawing, at LIAFA.
